Brain Freeze! — the online word game

One theme and ten seconds per word, 2 to 20 people on the same call. No host and nothing to install: someone creates the room and shares the 4-letter code.

A theme comes up — "something you find in a bathroom" — and everyone gets ten seconds to name one thing. The letter you used goes dark for everybody, so whoever plays last gets the leftovers. Think somebody's word does not count? Call VAR.

Joining a room is free. To create one, the account needs the 24-hour pass or the subscription — and the first pass is on us.

How to play

The theme is easy. Remembering anything at all in ten seconds, with the good letters already burned by everyone else, is not.

  1. 1

    Gather everyone

2 to 20 people on the same call. One creates the room and picks how many cards win the game and how long each turn lasts; the others join with the 4-letter code and hit Ready.

  2. 2

    A draw opens the round

Every round the system shuffles the order and shows who starts. Nobody picks, nobody argues.

  3. 3

    The card and the alphabet

A theme comes up — "something you find in a bathroom" — and the whole keyboard lights up: 23 letters in Portuguese, 26 in English.

  4. 4

Ten seconds, and the clock is against you

Only the player on turn can type. The word must start with a letter still lit; if the letter is gone, the field blinks and clears without costing your turn. Send it and the letter goes dark for everybody. Miss the clock and you are out of the round.

  5. 5

    VAR is the challenge

The word stays on screen for three seconds. Anyone who thinks it has nothing to do with the theme hits VAR — only the first click counts. An AI reviews the word against the theme: if the word was fine, the challenger is out; if it was not, the author is out and the letter lights up again.

  6. 6

The card goes to the survivor

The round ends when one person is left, and they take the card. If the letters run out first, the card carries over and another one comes — whoever wins takes the whole pile at once.

VAR is judged by an AI. If it cannot reach a verdict, nobody is eliminated: the card is discarded and the round starts over.

Lost your connection? You are back in the next round, with your cards intact.
