The Grand Show: the online quiz show

One person in the chair and the whole team in the audience, each on whatever device is at hand — computer, phone or tablet. The host opens the table in the browser and runs the show, game-show style.

Sixteen questions, from $1 to $1,000. One contestant in the chair and the audience following along. Stuck? There are three skips, the cards and the phone-a-friend — and missing the last one loses everything.

Joining is free. To open the table, the host needs the 24-hour pass or the subscription — and the first pass is on us.

How to play

One person in the chair, 16 questions and the whole audience cheering — or jinxing.

  1. 1

    Open the table

The host opens the table and shares the link. The audience joins in the browser, from any device — computer, phone or tablet — and a draw picks who takes the chair.

  2. 2

    The prize ladder

16 questions, from $1 to $1,000. It gets harder every 5 right answers, and the last one comes from the hardest tier in the bank.

  3. 3

Pick on screen, confirm on air

The contestant picks an answer on their own screen; the host is the one who confirms it. The audience follows everything at the same time, each on their own device.

  4. 4

    Three lifelines

3 skips, which swap the question without changing the prize; the cards, which knock out zero to three wrong answers; and phone-a-friend, one consultation with the audience on the call.

  5. 5

    Stop or risk it

Before answering, you can stop and keep what you have won. A wrong answer takes half of it.

  6. 6

    The $1,000 question

On the last rung there is no half: a wrong answer loses everything. Get it right and take the top prize home.

The prizes are make-believe. The glory is real.

The right answer only reaches the screens at the reveal — not even an open console gets it early.

There is more on the lineup.

Hosted quizzes, bluffing, words on the tip of your tongue: each one with its own way of ending in an argument.
